Azhagan 1991

Azhagappan, Mammootty, is a widowed, successful hotelier who runs a bustling establishment. He hosts a showcase by dancer Priya Ranjan Bhanupriya, which is also attended by Swapna Madhoo, a young college student, and Kanmani Geetha, a tutor at a nearby tutorial college. All three women fall in love with him, each drawn by a different mix of charm, generosity, and stability that Azhagappan offers.

Swapna tries to get close to Azhagappan by befriending his kids, hoping to win his heart through their affection. Meanwhile, Azhagappan enrolls in Kanmani’s tutorial college, and she grows close to him as well, though his feelings lean toward Priya. Priya Ranjan’s presence becomes a focal point, and the bond among them evolves with gentle, complicated emotion.

But trouble arises as Swapna and Kanmani each plant doubts about Azhagappan in Priya’s mind, persuading her that he is a philanderer and not worthy of trust. Priya’s faith wavers, and the relationships fracture, with Priya and Azhagappan briefly parted. Swapna then presses forward, using Azhagappan’s children to push him toward marriage, while the kids themselves push back in dramatic ways.

The situation escalates until the car driver Santhanam, Babloo Prithiveeraj, is forced to reveal a painful truth: the four children are orphans whom he has been sheltering. This revelation sheds light on Azhagappan’s sacrifices and the reasons behind his aloofness, prompting Swapna to reassess her stance and withdraw her bid to marry him.

In the end, Kanmani, Swapna, and the four children come together to craft a plan that reunites Azhagappan with Priya. Through patience, honesty, and a shared sense of family, the couple finds their way back to each other, and the unlikely circle of love and resolve surrounding them solidifies into a hopeful, comforting conclusion.
