Across the globe, a wave of political assassinations is carried out by eerie, robot-like figures who wear black-framed glasses and display an unsettlingly darkened skin tone. When authorities manage to capture these killers, they die, and their skin tone mysteriously returns to normal. The pattern—and the fact that every attacker shares the same blood type, Rhesus 0—pushes Interpol to act. To bait the culprits, the agency deploys a trained operative with the same blood type, a retired agent who steps back into the field under a new identity. The mission moves to Alicante, where the undercover operative, Al Pereira, assumes the alias Frank Froeba and begins to untangle a tangled web of crime.

As Pereira digs deeper, he finds that the murders are connected to a powerful Chinese crime syndicate led by Lee Wee, whose henchmen stalk and threaten to abduct anyone who might expose the scheme. Yet the real masterminds behind the killings hide in the shadows: Lady Cecilia Addington Courtney and Sir Percy have engineered an army of mind-controlled followers to carry out their deadly plan. The pursuit broadens from street-level danger to a calculated, high-stakes conspiracy, with Pereira forced to navigate a maze of false leads, ancient grudges, and political intrigue that stretches beyond any single city or country.

In Alicante, Pereira crosses paths with a second layer of danger when he encounters Cynthia Lewis, a determined woman who stands at the nexus of enforcement and crime. His initial suspicions about her affiliations are sharp but soon tempered by the realization that she may hold critical pieces of the puzzle. As the investigation intensifies, a brutal assault from one of the robotic assassins nearly derails him, yet he manages to seize a key clue from an improvised confrontation. The moment also marks a turning point: Pereira temporarily succumbs to the hypnotic influence of the invaders after donning the captured attacker’s glasses, pulling him toward the heart of Cecilia and Percy’s hidden fortress.

Locked in the villains’ lair, the plot unravels further as Cynthia Lewis helps expose the deception and breaks the spell that has been clouding Pereira’s mind. With the glasses removed, he regains his clarity and begins to turn the tables on the pair who masterminded the conspiracy.
