Brad Whitewood Sr. is a career criminal who leads a rural gang, building a steady movement of fear and profit from illegal activity. His world is quiet on the outside but volatile inside, driven by a craving for control and the lure of flashy wealth. Into this world comes Brad Whitewood Jr., a teenager living in poverty with his mother Julie, his grandmother, his brother Tommy, and his mother’s boyfriend Ernie. Jr. is soon drawn to the power and status his father embodies, and he resolves to imitate him. The spark comes from a desire to belong and from the glimmer of a lifestyle marked by money and danger, a stark contrast to the hardship at home.
