Diwakaram, a roving videographer from Rajahmundry, journeys to Vizianagaram to film a wedding and quickly finds himself caught in a web of trouble tied to a dowry. He is drawn to Bhuvaneswari, a fearless and dignified railway booking clerk who stands firm against pressure and swears to safeguard her own honor. From their first encounter, it’s clear that she’s not looking for trouble, but Diwakaram’s charm and ambition pull him deeper into a game where appearances hide more than they reveal. He learns that she is single and believes that a transfer back to Rajahmundry could bring them closer, nudged along by her maternal uncle Jagannatham, who hints at her desire for a partner built on pride and honesty. Behind the façade of propriety, however, lies a household where a ruthless mother schemes for a richly favored son-in-law, setting a trap that Diwakaram is eager to exploit.

In the crowded Railway Colony, the stories of its colorful residents unfold around him. Dr. Krupamani acts as a guardian to Diwakaram, almost a foster mother figure, while Chinna Rao pursues his own appetites, chasing after Bhagyam and stirring trouble with the spouses of their circle. The melodrama thickens as Ragpicker and others shuffle between loyalties and desires, and a neighbor’s rumor mill churns with tales of illicit affairs, including Bhagyam’s entanglements and the murky chit-fund schemes run by Murthy’s circle. Amid this chaos, Diwakaram tries to present himself as a settled man by opening a video rental shop—an opportunistic move aimed at impressing Bhuvaneswari and tying his future to hers. He secures space with a crafty blend of charm and coercion, leveraging the weaknesses of the colony’s residents. The façade works at first, as he earns quick money through small-time swindles while continuing to receive letters from Bhuvaneswari that seem to confirm a mutual love, even as the debtors close in on him. His ruffian ally Gopichand remains a constant threat, keeping the atmosphere tense and dangerous.

The plot takes a sharp turn when the Circle Inspector’s son, Sundar Kumar, deceives Gopichand’s kin, leading to a fatal confrontation that Gopichand records during a football match. Sharma, ever watchful, orders the tape destroyed, but Diwakaram keeps and later destroys it in secrecy, trying to dodge the consequences. When Bhuvaneswari arrives in person, the dynamics shift again: Diwakaram pursues her with renewed vigor, only to discover that Jagannatham has manipulated events to steer them apart. To test him, she proposes a pact: if he can live without lying until April 1, their marriage can proceed. The countdown begins, and Diwakaram’s carefully constructed lies begin to unravel as he reveals each carefully concealed secret around Bhagyam’s affair with Ram Murthy and the entanglements he has orchestrated with Chinna Rao, Bhagyam, and Murthy’s chit-fund. The revelation spree swings through the colony, threatening to wreck everyone’s stability and forcing people to confront truth and debt alike. Diwakaram’s confession even clears debts when Chinna Rao suffers a heart attack, and a doctor’s plea to spare him from the truth is overridden by the bigger truth he has to tell.

As the deadline nears, Gopi’s gang plans to settle scores with Diwakaram. A football victory becomes a pretext for vengeance, and the community plots to trap him into exposing all the hidden sins. Yet Diwakaram remains steadfast, choosing honesty over self-preservation and airing Gopi’s misdeeds, Bala’s pregnancy and abortion, and other misdeeds that have long escaped scrutiny. The law takes its course with a lack of definitive evidence, and the gang leader sharpens his blade to strike that very night. Krupamani, torn between loyalty and fear, whisks Diwakaram home as Gopi closes in. In a daring act, Krupamani stabs Gopi to shield him, taking the blame upon herself, and Diwakaram is momentarily left to shoulder the consequences. Yet Bhuvaneswari’s eyes soften, admiring his courage and recognizing that his honesty has won her heart despite the overturned deal. Krupamani finally confesses the truth, believing justice has been served, and Diwakaram is vindicated. In the end, the agreement is broken, and the couple finds a path to happiness as Bhuvaneswari’s readiness to marry returns them to a brighter future. The story closes on a hopeful note, with Diwakaram stepping into life with Bhuvaneswari by his side, free from the shadow of the deal and the colony’s tangled past.
