What Is Antigone About?
The premise of Antigone without spoilers.
The epic is stripped to its essentials, focusing on a brief, turbulent seven‑minute battle that nevertheless feels slow. In the conflict with Kreon, one of Antigone’s brothers sides with the king while the other opposes him; both die. Antigone defies Kreon to bury her brother and is punished by being entombed alive. Her fiancé Haimon kills himself from grief, his mother Eurydike hangs herself, and Kreon meets his own death, leaving six casualties despite the war’s end.
