Kiran and Aishwarya have been neighbours since childhood, their long history of lighthearted banter and petty squabbles shaping a familiar dynamic. Kiran hates her enough that he feels a wave of relief when she and her parents move away to Ooty, offering a rare quiet in the neighborhood. In that hill town, Aishwarya encounters an unopened greeting card addressed to Deepika, a name that echoes from the past. Deepika was part of the home’s earlier story, and Aishwarya sets out to locate her to hand over the card.

What she uncovers is heavy: Deepika’s family were the previous tenants, and Deepika had died by suicide rather than marry the person chosen by her parents, her elopement thwarted when her boyfriend failed to arrive. Aishwarya’s empathy rises from this tragedy, and she struggles with what to do next. She finds letters written by Deepika’s boyfriend, Vamsi, and is moved by the raw emotion they reveal. Incidentially, Kiran was Vamsi’s friend and receives the letter written by Aishwarya. He, too, wants to ease the blow and starts replying in Deepika’s voice as if he were Vamsi. The two continue exchanging letters, each one shaping the other’s understanding of the situation, and they keep the memory of Deepika alive while navigating their own growing feelings about the whole ordeal. The exchange becomes a careful dance of care, timing, and shared grief, slowly shifting the focus from delivering bad news to building something new between them.

As the correspondence stretches on, they decide it’s time to reveal the truth and arrange a meeting.
