Inspired by the 1989 Czech and Slovak Velvet Revolution, this film explores the controversial release of 23,000 prisoners ordered by Václav Havel. The story follows three families impacted by communist persecution and depicts the uprising of prisoners at Leopoldov, which ultimately necessitated military intervention. The events are set against the backdrop of a broad amnesty granted by Havel shortly after his election as president of Czechoslovakia.
