All That Glitters 2010

Ely (Géraldine Nakache) and Lila (Leïla Bekhti) are two working-class best friends who dream of a glitzier, more glamorous lifestyle. One night they sneak into a nightclub and meet Agathe (Virginie Ledoyen) and Joan (Linh Dan Pham), a wealthy, lesbian couple who offer them a ride home. The encounter opens a door to a world far from their own, where expense is not a concern and social ease seems within reach.

Lila, eager to belong, fabricates details about where she and Ely live, giving Agathe and Joan the address to a posh building in a privileged neighborhood. This lie pulls both girls deeper into a circle that appears flawless and effortless. Alongside Lila’s new life, she introduces a boyfriend, Maxx (Simon Buret), and begins to drift from Ely, whose presence is reduced to a cost-effective babysitting role for Agathe and Joan’s son. The contrast between Ely’s reality and Lila’s new reality grows starker, and Ely starts to feel increasingly invisible in a world that once felt possible.

As the pressure of deceit mounts, Ely’s growing sense of isolation clashes with Lila’s fear of abandonment.
