In 2019, Joe Travers falls in love with rival spy Lara during a Prague mission and makes a bold choice: leave his CIA ties behind to marry her. Together they slip away from their former organizations and join a secret group known as Alarum, which aims to topple the oppressive reach of the global intelligence network. Archibald, now living under the name Joe, steps into a precarious new life with a shared mission and a fragile trust in each other.

Five years pass, and on their honeymoon, Lara secretly keeps tabs on Roland Rousseau, a businessman who has laundered money for arms dealers. The couple’s quiet respite is shattered when a light aircraft belonging to Alarum crashes near their vacation home, forcing Joe to confront a dangerous web of loyalties. He discovers a USB drive that looks like it comes from the DEA, but the moment is interrupted by an aggressive pursuit from Orlin, an agent aligned with the Yellowjacket organization, who is determined to seize the drive. In the ensuing chaos, Orlin kills Bridgette, Roland’s wife, adding a personal stake to the escalating conflict.

The tension escalates as CIA Director Burbridge orders an Arbiter named Chester to steal the USB drive and eliminate Joe. Meanwhile, Orlin leads a large band of Russian mercenaries to hunt down the couple, turning the resort into a battlefield. Joe briefly teams up with [Chester] to fend off the attackers, while Lara urges Roland to hide and then confront the danger head-on, even as mercenaries tighten their grip on the vacation spot. In a desperate bid for safety, Chester secretly injects Joe with poison, granting him only an hour to live. Chester realizes that Joe has always held the USB drive, seizes it, and leaves Joe to face Orlin alone—until it becomes clear that a temporary truce might serve both sides.

Burbridge intensifies the crisis by dispatching two drones aimed at wiping out Joe, Lara, and Orlin. After Joe and Orlin bring down one drone, Orlin makes another aggressive move to finish him off, but Lara intervenes just in time and kills Orlin. At dawn, a wounded Lara and Joe stand by a tranquil lake, when Chester arrives. He discovers he has drunk poisoned vodka, having been outsmarted by Joe, and proposes an uneasy alliance to take down Burbridge and their shared enemies. Joe agrees and hands over the antidote, and soon an Alarum helicopter swoops in to lift them to safety, ending the relentless chase for the moment.
