In a tense, eerie setup, Inspector Indra Sen arrives at the home of famed aging artist Goutam Sadhu to probe the disappearance of Arjun Roy, a model who had been working for the artist. The house is a quiet crescendo of unsettling detail: a mantle crowded with lifelike dolls and a glass case that cradles a mysterious stone, the kind of artifact that seems to hum with secrets. On the threshold, Ahalya, the artist’s young, striking wife, greets the officers with a poised blend of charm and sly flirtation, all the while Goutam’s attention drifts elsewhere.

The scene pulls you deeper into the strange atmosphere as Indra notices one doll that bears an uncanny resemblance to Arjun. Ahalya offers tea and continues to move through the rooms with a practiced ease, and Gou tam explains that the stone has magical qualities: anyone who touches it can become the person they wish to be. He says Arjun had known about the stone and might have used it, hinting at a doorway between reality and illusion that only the deeply curious—or desperate—would dare cross. Indra, initially skeptical, agrees to test the artifact, drawn by the possibility of a clue or a confession hidden in its glassy surface.

With the stone in hand, Indra closes his eyes and imagines himself as Goutam Sadhu, stepping into the role the artist trusts. When he opens his eyes in the bedroom, his reflection appears as the artist, not himself. Ahalya speaks to him as if he were her husband, urging him to remove the police officer and hurry back to bed with her, while Goutam’s absent gaze lingers in the room. The moment is surreal and disorienting, a delicate marriage of temptation and menace, and Indra finds himself drawn into the act rather than resisting it.

The narrative then cuts to a darker progression: Indra finds himself in a shadowy space, restrained and unable to move. He is no longer himself but a new doll among the other figures on the mantle, its countenance fixed in fear and longing. His screams go unheard as the doll’s stillness becomes his prison, and the doll is timidly handled and chastised by Ahalya. The tension tightens as the line between observer and participant blurs, and the scene closes on the haunting image of a man trapped not just by a room, but by the very object that promised power.

In the final, chilling moment, the restrained Indra’s desperate cries echo softly in the darkness, trapped inside the doll as the rest of the room remains unnervingly still. The film ends with the sense that the magic he sought has consumed him, leaving a stark meditation on control, desire, and the price of crossing into another’s identity.
