In this lively mix of travel, training, and tangled romance, two young men from the Northeast—Luigi, a hip, aspiring beatnik, and Jerry, rooted in Long Island—find themselves thrust into Army basic training in New Jersey, alongside Mike, a rancher from Oregon. The trio’s days are filled with the rough humor of drill, camaraderie, and a shared dream of something more than just duty. Soon, the pace quickens as a dance unfolds between their circles: Luigi falls hard for Marie, a neighbor of Jerry, while Jerry himself becomes smitten with Louise, who happens to be Luigi’s friend. A spirited twist arrives when a WAC named Katie joins Mike at the dance, adding a spark to an already swirling night.
