In the quiet of their garden, a Golden Retriever puppy named Socks arrives and becomes a beacon of companionship for the lonely girl. At her mother’s urging, Akari dedicates herself to the care of this new friend, and the family’s homebound life takes on new meaning as Socks brings warmth into a house stretched thin by illness and absence.
