Trained at Stockholm’s Royal College of Music and Paris’s French virtuoso tradition under Marie‑Claire Alain and Jacques Taddei, Idenstam earned the highest ratings in both countries and became the first Northern European to win the Grand Prix de Chartres in 1984. Since 1986 his international career has taken him to the most prestigious concert halls worldwide, earning him the 2012 Interpreter of the Year award from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm (presented by King Carl XVI Gustaf) and the 2013 Litteris et Artibus Royal Medal.
