Chris Pratt has shared a cringe-worthy memory from the early days of his career during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The incident occurred on the set of the 2008 action film Wanted, where a young and inexperienced Pratt found himself in an embarrassing situation in front of co-star Angelina Jolie.

The Unforgettable On-Set Incident

Pratt, who played Barry, the best friend of James McAvoy’s character, was filming a scene where his character gets punched and falls to the ground. Believing he was still on camera, Pratt remained lying down even after his character was no longer in the shot. This led to a camera operator accidentally stepping on his head, followed by the operator yelling at him. Pratt recalled the particular humiliation of the moment happening “right in front of Angelina Jolie,” who he admitted being “totally starstruck” by. Jolie immediately checked on him, asking, “Are you okay, sweetheart?”

Pratt’s Influence on Hollywood Archetypes

The conversation also touched on Pratt’s significant impact on the types of characters that lead major Hollywood films. Actor Glen Powell credited Pratt’s performance as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy with shifting the leading man archetype away from “brooding and dark” figures like Christian Bale and Robert Pattinson toward “more silly and buoyant” characters. Powell stated this shift directly helped his own career, as it aligned with the type of roles he feels most comfortable playing.
