Yvan Attal

Yvan Attal is a renowned French-Israeli actor, scriptwriter and film director. Born on 4th January 1965 in Tel Aviv, Israel to Algerian-Jewish parents, he spent his early life in the outskirts of Paris. Attal made his acting debut in Un monde sans pitié (1989), directed by Éric Rochant, a performance that brought him immense acclaim, and he was awarded the César Award for Most Promising Actor. His directorial debut surfaced with Ma femme est une actrice (2001), which also starred Charlotte Gainsbourg, Attal's real-life partner. Beyond directing, Attal has worked as an actor and contributed a separate segment to the film New York, I Love You.

The myriad of his career includes roles in The Interpreter and Anthony Zimmer. In a departure from dramatic roles, he also played a comically inclined French cab driver named George, in the third installment of the action-comedy series 'Rush Hour.' His personal life took a significant turn when he met Anglo-French actress-singer Charlotte Gainsbourg on the set of the 1991 film Aux yeux du monde. The two have been in a longstanding partnership ever since, and together, they have three children. The family relocated to New York City in 2014, after the tragic demise of Gainsbourg's sister, photographer Kate Barry.
