Yoshio Kosugi (小杉 義男, Kosugi Yoshio) was an eminent Japanese actor, known for his appearance in over 120 films spanning between 1924 and 1967. He was born on 15 September 1903 in Kamitsuga District, Tochigi, Japan. Kosugi's career in the film industry started on stage as a shingeki actor. His acting prowess first garnered attention when he played the role of Yasha in 'The Cherry Orchard'. Soon after, Kosugi ventured into films and made his debut in the 1920s. One remarkable aspect of Kosugi's career was his collaboration with the renowned director Akira Kurosawa. He was cast in a number of Kurosawa's films, thus leaving a lasting imprint on Japanese cinema. Despite his passing on 12 March 1968, Kosugi's influence on the cinematic industry continues to live on through his timeless performances.
