Timothy Kevin Story, commonly known as Tim Story, is an acclaimed American film director, editor, and producer, best recognized for his work on notable films such as Barbershop (2002), Fantastic Four (2005), and the Ride Along franchise. His exceptional work has earned him two nominations for NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Directing in a Feature Film/Television Movie in 2006 and 2013. Story is the pioneer behind The Story Company, an entertainment production company that he initiated with his future spouse in 1996. His outstanding work in the film industry led him to become the first African-American director with films grossing over $1 billion at the box office. Born in Los Angeles on March 13, 1970, Tim attended LA's Westchester High School alongside jazz pianist Eric Reed and actresses Regina King and Nia Long. Upon completing high school, he furthered his studies at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, graduating in 1991. Basic of his career, Story had a stint in the music industry, where he was a part of Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate and featured on the song T.D.F. Connection. His exceptional talent guided him to dominate the film industry, with Fantastic Four becoming one of the highest-grossing superhero movie by an African-American director at the time.
