Susan Sullivan

Susan Sullivan is an American actress whose career spans more than five decades, beginning with a BA in drama from Hofstra University in 1964 and a Broadway debut opposite Dustin Hoffman in Jimmy Shine. She quickly transitioned to television, landing a Universal Studios contract in 1969 and appearing in a variety of guest roles before securing her first long‑running part as Lenore Curtin Delaney on the NBC soap Another World (1971‑1976). Her versatility shone through in the late 1970s with a lead role in the medical drama Julie Farr, M.D., earning her a Primetime Emmy nomination, and a memorable turn as Ann in the TV adaptation of Midway (1976).

In 1981 Sullivan achieved her most iconic television role as Maggie Gioberti on the primetime soap Falcon Crest, a performance that lasted nine seasons and solidified her status as a staple of 1980s prime‑time drama. Subsequent work includes the sitcom It's a Living, the comedic series Dharma & Greg (1997‑2002) where she played the aristocratic Kitty Montgomery, and the beloved role of Martha Rodgers on Castle (2009‑2016). Beyond on‑screen acting, she has lent her voice to the animated series Justice League as Queen Hippolyta and appeared in films such as My Best Friend’s Wedding. In recent years, Sullivan has continued to make guest appearances on shows like The Kominsky Method and Last Man Standing, while battling a 2023 lung‑cancer diagnosis with surgery. Her enduring presence and critical acclaim underscore a remarkable body of work that reflects both breadth and depth in American television.
