Pierre Coffin

Pierre-Louis Padang Coffin is a well-recognized French animator, director, producer, writer, and voice actor, with his fame largely attributed to the Despicable Me franchise. Coffin's distinct voice talent is heard through the lovable Minion characters, a comedic highlight that has gained him accolades such as the Kids Family Award at the 10th Seiyu Awards. His directorial prowess has seen him earn an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature for Despicable Me 2. His creative journey saw him enhancing his skills from the early days of being barred from passive activities like television viewing by his father, leading him to immerse himself in creative pursuits such as drawing, reading, and listening to music. The early days of his career took shape between the Paris-Sorbonne University and the Gobelins animation school in Paris, with his practical experience beginning at Amblin, a 2D London-based facility. His career progression further continued in the French CGI studio, Ex Machina, where he slowly climbed from the role of an animator to an animation supervisor.
