Philip Boyd

Philip L. Boyd (July 8, 1900 – March 12, 1989) was an influential American businessman, philanthropist, and long‑serving regent of the University of California whose legacy endures through the eponymous Philip L. Boyd Deep Canyon Desert Research Center. Born in Los Angeles, California, Boyd grew up during a period of rapid industrial expansion and leveraged his keen entrepreneurial spirit to build a successful career in the burgeoning oil and real‑estate sectors of Southern California.
