Pedro Casablanc

Pedro Manuel Ortiz Domínguez, better known by his stage name Pedro Casablanc, was born on 17 April 1963 in the bustling port city of Casablanca, Morocco, to Andalusian parents who had emigrated in search of new opportunities. From a young age he displayed a keen interest in the visual arts, eventually earning a licentiate degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, where he immersed himself in the study of painting, sculpture, and the history of artistic movements. His transition to acting was guided by formal training at the renowned Centro Andaluz de Teatro (CAT), a crucible for many of Spain’s finest performers, and later at the Teatro de la Abadía in Madrid, where he refined his craft under the mentorship of celebrated directors. In the early 1990s, Casablanc’s screen career began to blossom with supporting roles in My Soul Brother (1993) and Running Out of Time (1994), showcasing his natural charisma and deep, resonant voice. However, it was his breakthrough television role as El Ruso in the popular series Policías that catapulted him into the national spotlight, earning him critical acclaim for his nuanced portrayal of a complex, morally ambiguous character.
