Nita Talbot, born Anita Sokol on August 8, 1930 in New York City, began her long‑standing career in Hollywood after appearing as a model in the 1949 comedy It’s a Great Feeling. Of Hungarian‑Jewish ancestry, she quickly demonstrated a versatile screen presence, moving from early supporting parts in Bright Leaf (1950) to memorable character roles such as the love‑starved switchboard operator in A Very Special Favor (1965) and the sharp‑tongued Madame Esther in the cult classic Buck and the Preacher (1972). Throughout the 1950s and 1960s she became a familiar face on television, portraying Mabel Spooner in Joe and Mabel (1956), Iris Anderson in a Perry Mason episode, and a con‑woman named Blondie Collins in The Thin Man (1958‑59). Her ability to shift between comedic and dramatic beats earned her a reputation as a reliable guest star, leading to recurring appearances on series such as Hogan’s Heroes where she played the “White Russian” spy Marya; this performance garnered an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1968. Other notable TV credits include roles on Maverick, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Jim Backus Show, and a later turn as Dora Miles, the efficient Girl‑Friday on The Jim Backus Show. In the 1970s and 1980s she continued to work steadily, appearing in films like The Day of the Locust (1975), Serial (1980), and Chained Heat (1983), as well as starring in soap operas Search for Tomorrow and General Hospital where she portrayed Delfina. Her final acting contribution came in 1997 when she provided the voice of Anastasia Hardy in the animated series Spider‑Man. Off screen, Talbot was married twice—first to actor Don Gordon (1954‑1958) and later to Thomas A. Geas (1961‑1964)—and raised one daughter, Nicole Andrea Geas.
