Nicole Mary Kidman AC (born 20 June 1967) is an American and Australian actress and producer. Known for her work in film and television projects across many genres, she has been ranked among the world's highest-paid actresses since the late 1990s. Her accolades include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and six Golden Globe Awards. She is the first Australian actor to receive the AFI Life Achievement Award honour in 2024. Her breakthrough roles were in Dead Calm, Days of Thunder, Far and Away, and To Die For. Her acclaim grew with films such as Moulin Rouge!, The Others, Cold Mountain, The Golden Compass, Australia, Paddington, Aquaman, and Bombshell. She has also starred in independent films with dark and tragic themes such as Dogville, Birth, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and The Northman. Her television roles include Hemingway & Gellhorn, The Undoing, Nine Perfect Strangers, Special Ops: Lioness, and The Perfect Couple. Kidman is noted for her method acting and has taken on physically, emotionally and mentally demanding roles, alongside a willingness to work with auteurs. She is also known as a fashion icon and has actively raised money and awareness for disadvantaged children and women's rights. She was married to actor Tom Cruise and is currently married to country music singer Keith Urban.
