Lin Laishram

Lin Laishram, born Linthoingambi Laishram on 19 December 1985 in Imphal, Manipur, India, is an Indian model, actress, and entrepreneur whose career spans over a decade and a half. From her early days representing Manipur in the Miss North East pageant where she placed first runner‑up in 2008, to her bold appearance on national television in a swimsuit—an act that sparked controversy in her hometown—she has consistently pushed cultural boundaries. After moving to New York, Lin became a sought‑after print and fashion model, aligning with the New York‑based jewellery brand Ozoru Jewelry and sharpening her craft at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Upon returning to India, she plunged into theatre, collaborating with stalwarts such as Naseeruddin Shah’s Motley and Neeraj Kabi’s Pravah Lab, performing at iconic venues like Prithvi Theatre and NCPA, and refining a versatile acting technique that would later serve her on the silver screen. Her film debut came as an extra in Om Shanti Om (2007), but she quickly rose to more substantial roles, portraying Bembem in the National‑Award‑winning Mary Kom (2014), a Nepali girl in Umrika (2015), and the poignant Mema in Vishal Bhardwaj’s period drama Rangoon (2017). Throughout, she has remained a champion of sport, having been a Junior National Archery Champion in 1998, and an advocate for sustainable fashion, launching the eco‑friendly jewellery line Shamoo Sana in 2017. In her personal life, Lin married actor Randeep Hooda in November 2023, a partnership that began on the stage of Motley, underscoring her deep roots in theatre.
