Kiara Advani, born Alia Advani on 31 July 1991 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India, is a prominent Indian actress who has made a remarkable impact across Hindi and Telugu cinema. Coming from a diverse heritage—her father Jagdeep Advani is a Sindhi Hindu businessman and her mother Genevieve Jaffrey a teacher of mixed Lucknowi, Scottish, Irish, Portuguese, and Spanish ancestry—Kiara grew up surrounded by artistic influences, including step‑great‑grandfather actor Ashok Kumar and great‑uncle Saeed Jaffrey. After completing a BA in mass communications from Jai Hind College, she changed her first name to Kiara, inspired by Priyanka Chopra’s character in Anjaana Anjaani, following Salman Khan’s suggestion to avoid confusion with Alia Bhatt.
