Jerry Lacy

Jerry Lacy, born Gerald LeRoy Lacy on March 27, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa, is an American actor and writer whose career spans more than five decades. He first broke onto the professional stage in the mid‑1960s, notably portraying Humphrey Bogart in both the Broadway production and the film adaptation of Woody Allen’s Play It Again, Sam, an early credential that demonstrated his versatility and comic timing. Lacy’s most enduring legacy comes from his work on the gothic soap opera Dark Shadows, where he originated the multiple Trask characters—Tony, Reverend Gregory, Mr., and Lamar—showcasing his talent for playing both menacing and sympathetic roles within a single narrative universe. His television résumé also includes prominent soap‑opera parts such as Rick Latimer on Love of Life, Simon Gilbey on As the World Turns, and Jonas on The Young and the Restless, cementing his status as a reliable daytime performer. Beyond the small screen, Lacy appeared in several 1970s cult films, including House of Dark Shadows, Blood Bath, and The Money, and later returned to the Dark Shadows mythos through audio dramas like The Wicked and the Dead (2009) and Kingdom of the Dead (2010). He shared the screen with his wife, actress Julia Duffy, in guest spots on Designing Women and Drake & Josh, and even contributed a script to Duffy’s acclaimed series Newhart.
