Giuseppe Cederna

Giuseppe Cederna, born on 25 June 1957 in Rome, Italy, is the son of noted journalist and politician Antonio Cederna and the nephew of celebrated writer and journalist Camilla Cederna. From an early age he was drawn to the world of mime and clowning, a fascination that led him to co‑found the theatrical troupe Anfeclown in 1977 after several formative stage experiences. His talent caught the attention of the avant‑garde Teatro dell'Elfo, where he forged a lasting professional relationship with director Gabriele Salvatores—a partnership that would later extend to cinema, most famously with the Academy Award‑winning film Mediterraneo. Cederna's first screen appearance came in Marco Bellocchio’s 1972 drama Sbatti il mostro in prima pagina, a modest role that paved the way for a prolific career as a character actor throughout the 1980s and beyond. Over the decades he has showcased remarkable versatility, moving seamlessly between brilliant comedic parts and intense dramatic performances in titles such as Marrakech Express (1989), Captain Fracassa's Journey (1990), Gangsters (1992), Excellent Cadavers (1999), and El Alamein: The Line of Fire (2002).
