What's After the Movie
Éric Judor (born 25 July 1968 in Meaux, Seine-et-Marne, France) is a multifaceted French entertainer whose career spans acting, directing, screenwriting, producing and stand‑up comedy. The son of a Guadeloupean father and an Austrian mother, Judor grew up in a culturally diverse household that later informed his eclectic comedic style. At eighteen he pursued a professional tennis career in the United States, achieving a world ranking of 300 and famously defeating future Roland Garros quarter‑finalist Hicham Arazi with a spectacular tweener shot, before abandoning the sport for more stable employment. He spent two years as a tour guide in the U.S. and Canada, then worked as a logistics coordinator for Bouygues, organizing schedules for engineers on offshore oil platforms, a period he later described as “a crash course in discipline and absurd bureaucracy.” Returning to the entertainment world, Judor burst onto the French comedy scene as one half of the wildly popular duo Éric et Ramzy, alongside Ramzy Bedia, in the late 1990s. Their chemistry on the television series H (1998‑2002) and a string of box‑office hits such as La Tour Montparnasse Infernale (2001) and Les Dalton (2004) cemented his status as a household name. After the partnership dissolved, he launched a solo career, creating, writing, and producing the cult Canal+ series Platane (2011‑2019), in which he also starred as a fictionalized version of himself. Judor continued to headline successful comedies like Mohamed Dubois (2013), Problemos (2017) and Roulez jeunesse (2018), while also taking on dramatic roles in films such as The Last Mercenary (2021). Beyond the screen, he lives in Dampierre‑en‑Yvelines with his wife and their two daughters, Jana and Luna, balancing family life with a relentless work ethic that keeps him active in French popular culture. His ability to blend slapstick, satire and a subtle critique of everyday absurdities makes Éric Judor one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary French cinema.
