What's After the Movie

Eddie Murphy

Edward Regan Murphy, or as commonly known, Eddie Murphy, had his breakthrough as a standup comic before gaining stardom for his film roles; he is widely recognized as one of the greatest comedians of all time. In addition to being a successful comedian, Murphy is an accomplished actor and singer. He has received several prestigious accolades including a Golden Globe Award, a Grammy Award, and an Emmy Award, as well as nominations for an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award.

Murphy shot to fame on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live before making a successful transition to film. He has starred in popular shows and movies including Coming to America, The Nutty Professor, and Shrek. Eddie is likewise known for taking on multiple roles in a single film, roles in which he often imitates the voices and mannerisms of others, this outstanding talent of his becoming his tribute to one of his idols, Peter Sellers. While Murphy continues to act and write, he also periodically returns to stand-up comedy, a medium he believes to be the hardest of all.
