Dominique Pinon, born 4th March 1955, is a prolific French actor best known for his roles in the films of Jean-Pierre Jeunet, where he often portrays colourful, eccentric or grotesque characters. He got his start in cinema with a role in the 1981 movie Diva, directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix. This propelled him into a varied and vibrant career which involved work in French, English, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, and American productions.
Beyond cinema, Pinon has also made significant contributions to theatre, working in the plays of celebrated authors like Gildas Bourdet, Jorge Lavelli, and Valère Novarina. During his esteemed career, he has received notable recognition for his work including a Molière Award for Best Actor in 2004. He has also served as officer of the prestigious 'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres' since 2014 and was the president of the jury for the Festival International du Film fantastique d'Audincourt in 2011.
