Diego Luna

Diego Dionisio Luna Alexander, more commonly known as Diego Luna, was born on December 29, 1979 in Toluca, Mexico. He is renowned as a Mexican actor, director, and producer, and has distinguished himself particularly for his role as Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the Disney+ series Andor. Luna began his career in Mexican telenovelas and emerged on the international scene after his impressive performance in the critically acclaimed 2001 film Y tu mamá también. Over the years, Luna has showcased his versatility in both Mexican and American films, starring in Frida, Open Range, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, The Terminal, Criminal, Milk, Sólo quiero caminar, and Rudo y Cursi. Throughout his illustrious career, Luna has touched many genres from sci-fi epic Elysium, to comedy in Casa de mi Padre, and the animated musical The Book of Life. He has used his platform to not only entertain but also shine a light on social issues, as seen in his role as drug trafficker Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo in Narcos: Mexico.

While enjoying a successful acting career, Luna diversified his portfolio by having a hand in producing and directing film and television projects, many in partnership with his close collaborator Gael García Bernal. He directed three feature films: Abel, Cesar Chavez, and Mr. Pig, and was the creator and director of the Back Home docu-series, his Amazon Studios talk show Pan y Circo, and the scripted 2021 Netflix series Everything Will Be Fine. His life outside the spotlight includes his marriage to Camila Sodi, with whom he shares two children. Despite his rise to international fame, Luna maintains deep roots in his home country of Mexico, contributing significantly to Mexican theatre productions, film, and television projects.
