Charlie Heaton

Charlie Ross Heaton, an English actor and musician, was born on 6 February 1994 and notably known for his portrayal of Jonathan Byers in the Netflix science fiction horror series Stranger Things. Prior to his prolific acting career, Heaton was also actively involved in the music scene, playing for various London-based bands. He ventured into acting with guest roles on British television dramas and earned major roles in feature films such as As You Are (2016), Marrowbone (2017), The New Mutants (2020), No Future (2021), and The Souvenir Part II (2021).

Heaton's journey in acting began without any formal training, initially considering an acting career while supplementing his income as a musician and bartender. 2015 marked a turning point for Heaton as he earned roles in three significant projects including Stranger Things. He had his first feature film role in Shut In, a 2016 thriller film. He also landed a main role in the psychological horror film Marrowbone and eventually starred as Samuel 'Sam' Guthrie / Cannonball in The New Mutants. Despite being a successful actor, Charlie Heaton is not without controversy, as he was detained in 2017 for possession of small amounts of cocaine, although he was subsequently released without charges. In his personal life, Heaton has one son, born in 2014 with former band mate Akiko Matsuura and has been in a relationship with Stranger Things co-star Natalia Dyer since 2016. Additionally, Heaton is an avid football fan, especially of Arsenal F.C, and has inspired folk-punk band Skinny Lister to write a song titled 'Charlie' about him.
