Brett Gelman, born October 6, 1976, is an American actor, comedian, producer, and writer. He's best known for roles like Murray Bauman in Netflix's horror-supernatural series Stranger Things and Martin in the BBC comedy Fleabag. His career kick-started in the 2000s as a comedian and gained notable recognition in the following decade for his involvement in numerous Adult Swim shows, such as Eagleheart and comedy specials in 2014 and 2015. He's also been part of the main casts of the NBC sitcom Go On, the Comedy Central series Another Period, and the FX comedy series Married. In the late 2010s, Brett became even more prominent due to his roles in Fleabag and Stranger Things, and on Camping and Mr. Mercedes. Brett has voiced characters in TV series such as Jeff & Some Aliens and TripTank on Comedy Central and, more recently, I Heart Arlo and Inside Job on Netflix. He is set to star in the upcoming drama series Lady in the Lake. Gelman was born and raised in Highland Park, Illinois, where he graduated from Highland Park High School before attending the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he received classical training in theater. After college, Gelman moved to New York City and was a regular performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. He has appeared in films such as The Other Guys and 30 Minutes or Less, TV shows like Bored to Death, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Office. He also written for MTV's Human Giant and the sketch pilot 'The Right Now! Show'. In 2017, he starred in and co-wrote Lemon, opposite Judy Greer, Michael Cera, Nia Long, and Gillian Jacobs, directed by Janicza Bravo. In 2018, he starred in feature film Room for Rent. In 2022, he was declared the star of the Apple TV+ drama series Lady in the Lake.
