Brandon Perea

Brandon Perea (born May 25, 1995) is an American actor and professional jamskater who first captured public attention with his charismatic performance as Alfonso "French" Sosa on the Netflix mystery drama The OA (2016‑2019). Growing up in Schaumburg, Illinois, he was raised in a multicultural household of Filipino and Puerto Rican heritage and learned break‑dancing from his father, eventually becoming the youngest‑ever professional jamskater. Between the ages of fourteen and sixteen he toured the United States performing a high‑energy blend of disco‑style roller skating and modern breakdance, a talent that later earned him a spot on Nickelodeon’s Figure It Out and a run on America’s Got Talent with the crew Honor Roll. After moving to Los Angeles at sixteen, he was discovered by a talent manager at a skating convention in Las Vegas, paving the way for his acting debut. His early screen work includes a minor role in the 2016 YouTube Red comedy‑drama Dance Camp and a guest appearance as the clock‑headed villain Doctor Tyme on DC’s Doom Patrol (2020). The breakthrough came in 2022 when Jordan Peele cast him as Angel Torres in the critically acclaimed science‑fiction horror film Nope, a role originally written as a “happy‑go‑lucky” geek but transformed by Perea’s grounded performance, earning him praise as a scene‑stealer and a Breakthrough Artist nomination at the 2022 BAFTAs. In 2024 he expanded his genre range as tornado‑wrangler Boone in the summer blockbuster Twisters and appeared in the horror thriller Amp House Massacre as Niko.
