What's After the Movie
Bobbie Phillips (born January 29, 1968) is an American actress whose career spans television, film, and independent productions, marked by a rare combination of dramatic talent and physical prowess. Raised in Charleston, South Carolina, she moved to Hollywood in 1990 and quickly secured her first television guest spot alongside Halle Berry on the sci‑fi comedy They Came from Outer Space. Her striking looks also landed her a contract with fitness legend Joe Weider, making her a sought‑after swimsuit model before she became a regular on Paramount’s series The Watcher with Sir Mix‑a‑Lot. Phillips distinguished herself as a trained martial artist, performing her own stunts in action‑filled movies such as Chameleon and its sequels Chameleon II: Death Match and Chameleon 3: Dark Angel, as well as the television adaptation of The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, where she became the first female to portray the iconic Crow character. Throughout the 1990s she appeared in popular series including The Hitchhiker, Stargate SG‑1, The X‑Files (earning a genre‑specific guest‑actress award), Married… with Children, Two Guys and a Girl and Baywatch, and was part of the People’s Choice‑winning drama Murder One. After a brief cameo in Showgirls and numerous independent projects, she retired in 2003, starring in Last Flight Out as a missionary doctor before stepping away from Hollywood. In 2014 Phillips returned to the screen, headlining several indie features released through 2016, while simultaneously dedicating herself to animal rescue work across Costa Rica, Fiji, Australia, Mexico and Canada, and later supporting elephant and street‑dog initiatives in Sri Lanka. Her personal life includes marriage to hairstylist Anthony Filipetto, whom she met on the set of Hustle, and raising a son named Mark from a prior marriage; the couple now reside in Canada, where she continues her advocacy and occasional acting projects.
