What's After the Movie
Alexandra Jiménez (born Alexandra Jiménez Arrechea on 4 January 1980 in Zaragoza, Spain) is a multifaceted Spanish performer known for her work as an actress, stand‑up comedian, television host, and former ballet dancer. From a young age she trained at Zaragoza’s Estudio de Danza María de Ávila and later at Madrid’s Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza, turning professional at just fifteen before an injury with the Cuban National Ballet redirected her ambitions toward the screen. She pursued formal acting studies at the Escuela Universitaria de Artes TAI in Madrid, where she began to appear in minor television roles such as Periodistas, Policías, en el corazón de la calle and Compañeros, gaining valuable on‑set experience while still a student. Her breakthrough arrived in 2004 when she was cast as África Sanz in the popular sitcom Los Serrano, a role that cemented her status in Spanish households and showcased her comic timing. In 2010‑2011 she headlined the drama series La pecera de Eva, playing psychologist Eva Padrón who helped a group of teenagers navigate emotional challenges; the character’s popularity led to a cameo in the 2012 finale of Frágiles. Expanding her repertoire, Jiménez succeeded Eva Hache as the host of the La Sexta stand‑up comedy program El club de la comedia from 2015 to 2016, bringing her sharp wit to a national audience. Throughout her career she has also performed in theatre productions such as Fin del mundo, todos al tren (2002) and Los menecomos (2002), demonstrating her versatility across media. Alexandra Jiménez continues to be active in the entertainment industry, balancing acting, comedy, and hosting duties while remaining a beloved figure in contemporary Spanish popular culture.
