What Is Web About?

The premise of Web in 268 words, with nothing given away. The full story follows below.

In the wake of a reckless night that ends in tragedy, three young women awaken to a stark, unkempt room where every surface feels heavy with secrecy. The space is both a physical cage and a psychological pressure cooker, its bare walls echoing the thin line between captivity and the desperate yearning for freedom. The atmosphere is saturated with a relentless, low‑key tension, the kind that makes even the smallest sound feel like a warning and every shadow a potential threat.

Abinaya, Mahashree, and Nisha come from different corners of the same world, each carrying the residue of a night spent in excess. Their personalities clash and complement in equal measure, revealing fissures of guilt, denial, and fragile courage as they confront an inexplicable imprisonment. Their captor, Veera, looms as a paradoxical figure—calm, articulate, and driven by a lingering grief that fuels his unsettling presence. The dynamic between the women and Veera is charged with an unsettling mix of terror and unsettling empathy, hinting at deeper wounds that bind them together in this unforgiving tableau.

The film unfurls as a claustrophobic thriller, where the confines of the room become a stage for a cat‑and‑mouse psychological dance. The tone is unflinching, balancing visceral dread with moments of stark introspection, inviting viewers to contemplate the cost of recklessness and the lengths to which a wounded soul might go for vengeance. As the women grapple with their own demons and the looming mystery of their captor’s motives, the story teeters between horror and a haunting study of accountability, leaving the audience suspended in an uneasy anticipation of what might come next.

Spoilers ahead

Four girls, portrayed by Shilpa Manjunath, Shaashvi Bala, Subha Priya Malar, and Ananya Mani, are kidnapped after leaving a rave; they were drunk and driving rashly. They wake up bound in a secluded, unkempt bunglow, while a fifth girl has already endured brutal torture for days.

A man and a woman keep them hostage, and the room is watched by CCTV cameras. Whenever the captives try to run or make a move, they are quickly captured again. After days of torment, the group learns that one of the captors (the kidnapper) Veera kills one of the girls and feeds her to his dog, after she discovers that her husband has also been killed by the same man.

Later, the woman assisting them reveals his backstory: the kidnapper had a sister who was killed in a rash-driving accident, and therefore anyone who drives irresponsibly must pay the price.

Toward the end, three of the girls manage to escape and return home, only to discover that the kidnapper was actually a leading psychiatrist—a doctor brought in by the parents to treat their daughters from alcohol and drug abuse. Since traditional methods had failed and cooperation was lacking, the doctor and his colleagues, along with two friends who were believed to be dead, devise a 21-day treatment plan; and everything that happened was part of that plan.
