The story begins with a poignant scene where Revathy (Nithya Menen) is seen rushing towards the beach before tragically drowning herself in the ocean. The narrative then shifts back 18 years, taking us to a slum in Chennai, where the struggles of life have shaped the characters’ destinies.

In this environment, Balaji (Muthukumar) faces adversity early on when his mother passes away, leaving him to deal with the hardships of life. His father, Jyothi (Sheimour), is depicted as a drunken man who abandons Balaji and his younger brother, Karthik (Nani), leaving the boys to fend for themselves on the streets. Despite these challenges, Balaji is determined to provide a better life for his brother Karthik, working tirelessly and securing help from Revathy’s family to ensure their survival.

Karthik, who is studying in an engineering college, shares a close bond with his childhood friends Vishnu (Karthik Kumar) and Revathy. Revathy holds a special place in Karthik’s heart, and the three form a tight-knit trio. Vishnu, who owns a mechanic shop, dreams of a better future but struggles financially, with his income insufficient to support his ambitions or his family. Vishnu’s guardian presses him to sell his shop and find a stable, well-paying job, but Vishnu refuses because the mechanic shop is a precious memory of his late father.

Meanwhile, Jyothi engages in illegal activities, working for a local drug peddler named Ammaji (Jennifer). His illegal pursuits involve supplying call girls to men in the slum, including Viji (Bindu Madhavi), who is a call girl and happens to be in love with Karthik. Jyothi’s morally dark world is further complicated by his involvement in drug trafficking, as he supplies illegal substances to the area, including a particularly dangerous drug.

Knowing Vishnu’s love for Viji and his financial struggles, Jyothi exploits him by assigning the task of transporting drugs to Pondicherry, promising to reunite Vishnu with Viji as a reward. Vishnu, eager and desperate, enlists Karthik’s help and they set out on the journey. During this tense operation, Viji learns that Jyothi plans to sell the drugs to an enemy of Ammaji, which could escalate violence in the area. She attempts to warn Vishnu through Jyothi’s assistant, risking her safety.

Back in Chennai, Revathy’s father suffers a heart attack and is hospitalized, desperately trying to contact Karthik and Vishnu to ensure their safety. Balaji eventually tracks down Karthik in Jyothi’s car, leading to a confrontation that results in a week-long search for Karthik. When Balaji finally locates him at a bakery, they clash, and Balaji physically assaults Karthik out of concern and anger.

Feeling misunderstood and overwhelmed, Karthik leaves his house and heads to Vishnu’s place, even handing over a phone to Revathy. Meanwhile, Vishnu, trying to verify the drugs’ location, searches his bag and finds the illegal substance. A confrontation erupts between Karthik and Vishnu in Vishnu’s home. During the ensuing fight, Karthik is injured by a falling chair and loses consciousness. Tragically, Vishnu’s guardian, who is driven by greed, kills Vishnu because he plans to sell Vishnu’s mechanic shop, sealing Vishnu’s fate forever.

The pain of Vishnu’s death plunges Viji into deep depression, and she soon succumbs to grief. Her tragic death is further compounded by the police who, believing Karthik could be responsible, arrest him. He is taken into custody as the chaos around him intensifies. However, with Jyothi’s help, Karthik eventually escapes from police custody.

Seeking justice and accountability, Balaji, Karthik, and Jyothi go to confront Ammaji, who turns out to be entangled with her enemies now allied against her. There’s an intense showdown where Jyothi and Balaji manage to save themselves, killing those attacking them, and Jyothi ultimately kills Ammaji. Later, in Jyothi’s home, they gather for drinks. When Jyothi questions Karthik about the drug, Karthik reveals that Revathy found the drug in his cupboard and, fearing for her safety, took it to the beach and dissolved it there, trying to destroy evidence of their illegal activities.

The truth unravels as Balaji, upset with Jyothi’s reckless behavior, poisons him with poison-laced beer, accusing Jyothi of abandoning his family and causing the death of Vishnu and Viji. In a final act of justice, Karthik joins his brother in confronting Jyothi, and they kill him, ending his reign of chaos. The brothers decide to keep their actions secret, swearing to protect their family’s honor. The film concludes with both Karthik and Balaji walking out of the room together, united in their resolve and grief, as the screen fades.
