Rajeshwari, a housewife living in the small town of Palanpur, considers herself an expert matchmaker with a keen eye for wealth and status. She firmly believes that a marriage should be between individuals of similar financial standing, education, and social rank. Her obsession with material objects as symbols of taste and wealth often influences her decisions, and she tends to judge people based on their net worth. She also sees her household as a reflection of her own status, constantly urging her husband, Surender, a bank cashier, to upgrade their appliances and keep up with the latest trends.

The family, originally from Jaunpur, has two children named [Shlok] and Sana, and Rajeshwari keeps a Laxmi-Ganesh coin in her drawer, flipping it to decide major life choices—though she has a habit of interpreting its outcomes in her favor regardless of the actual result. Their routine life takes a turn when Rahul Saxena, a civil engineering student from Biruwa in Azamgarh, finds himself in need of accommodation after being asked to leave by his landlady, [Mrs. Rai]. He comes across Rajeshwari, who welcomes him into her home not just as a tenant but as someone she believes could be a suitable match for her sister, Nisha.

Rahul, played by [Sharman Joshi], is a young man from a modest background who is trying to complete his education while supporting himself. Rajeshwari rents him a room for Rs 1200 a month to help with household expenses. She quickly designs a plan to match Rahul with Nisha, her younger sister. Nisha, portrayed by [Yuvika Chaudhary], is a bright student but struggles with English. Rajeshwari, eager to see the two marry, asks Rahul to coach Nisha in English, seeing it as an opportunity to bring them closer.

As the story unfolds, Rajeshwari travels to Nisha’s hometown of Jaunpur to bring her to Palanpur. Nisha’s mother, played by [Suhasini Mulay], gives her consent for the marriage, and soon Rahul and Nisha develop feelings for each other. Despite the obstacles, including Rahul’s future prospects and family background, their mutual attraction grows stronger. Rajeshwari, meanwhile, tries to orchestrate the marriage, creating a false impression that a doctor is interested in Nisha to motivate Rahul to propose.

In the midst of wedding preparations, a new suitor arrives—Yuvraaj Saxena, portrayed by [Vatsal Sheth], a young, unmarried professional working with Godrej. Yuvraaj is seen as a potentially better match for Nisha because of his stable job and urban lifestyle. Rajeshwari, convinced that wealth and status are crucial for happiness, persuades Rahul to vacate his room, claiming that Nisha would be better suited to someone like Yuvraaj. Rahul, with a sense of loyalty, agrees to step aside and moves in with a friend, Shaukat.

Despite her husband’s warnings about superficial values, Rajeshwari remains firm in her belief that securing the wealthiest and most suitable match for her sister is her divine duty. She presents Yuvraaj to Nisha’s parents and begins to pursue his family’s approval, all while hiding her true feelings and intentions. Nisha, feeling betrayed and confused, confides in Rahul and admits her love for him. She writes a letter to Yuvraaj, explaining her true feelings and urging him to refuse the marriage.

Through meticulous scheming and emotional tension, Rahul relationships intertwine with the family’s plans. He actively participates in wedding arrangements, trying to demonstrate his commitment and earn respect. During the celebrations, Rahul persuades Rajeshwari to purchase expensive electronic displays for the engagement, suggesting that it can be returned if the marriage ultimately does not go ahead, thus saving costs and boosting their prestige.

As the wedding day approaches, Nisha’s heartfelt letter reaches Yuvraaj, revealing her love for Rahul and her desire to marry him instead. Moved by her honesty, Yuvraaj decides to call off the marriage, allowing Rahul and Nisha to marry, fulfilling their love and wishes. The story ends with the trio forging their own path, challenging societal expectations, and emphasizing that true happiness comes from authenticity rather than wealth and superficial appearances.
