In a globe-spanning mission, the seasoned head of U.N.C.L.E., Alexander Waverly, assigns a quartet of agents to safeguard a top-secret code and deliver it to a hidden location. The team includes Napoleon Solo, his partner Illya Kuryakin, and their ally Arsene Coria from Italy, joined by Namana from Liberia. They set off with a clear objective, and Waverly adds a twist by secretly dispatching an Australian agent, Kitt Kittridge, to shadow them without their knowledge. The arrangement is tight, the tension is high, and the mission hinges on trust and timing as they move toward a concealed destination.

But the shadows hold their own plan. THRUST—a ruthless rival—has picked up on the operation, codenamed the seemingly benign “August Affair,” though their information is not complete. They enlist the alluring Serena to tempt Solo into her apartment, hoping to pry loose the purpose behind the crew’s movements. When the team reaches the destination—an underground vault hidden in the Swiss Alps, a location shot at the famed Griffith Observatory—the truth behind the operation is revealed. Project Earth Save is a super weapon conceived by scientists from multiple nations after early signals of an alien threat. The weapon’s power is so immense that even sight of it can be fatal, forcing the team to wear protective goggles to avoid a catastrophic accident. The code becomes the key to opening the vault, and the code itself changes every August, adding a clock-like pressure to the mission. A crucial clue surfaces when Namana spots Solo’s missing jacket button in the briefcase, drawing the fake Solo’s suspicion and leading him to tear Namana’s goggles away. Namana is hypnotized by the weapon’s awe-inspiring presence and walks into the vault to die, a stark reminder of the machinery’s lethal potential.

Meanwhile, the real Solo is not down for the count. He has been held prisoner nearby, but he seizes a crucial moment to escape and, in a violent confrontation, overcomes the head villain.
