What begins as a casual curiosity slowly becomes a playful experiment as Donald watches the little traveler trudge along, shoulders straining under the weight.

Donald toys with his own picnic by balancing several items on the back of the determined ant, testing its stamina and resolve as if it were a tiny, unyielding porter. The ant, seemingly oblivious to the spectacle, keeps marching, undeterred by the weight and the odd man-made stage of a makeshift tightrope built from a string and a few crumbs. When Donald gives the string a sharp tug, the line breaks and the ant takes a tumble into a large custard pie, its frothy sweetness splashing around in an unexpected, playful disaster.

As night nears, Donald dozes against a tree beside his basket, unaware that a small troop of ants has moved in for a closer look. They slip forward, crack open the basket, and slip into the scene while Donald remains sound asleep. He instinctively guards the basket with a defensive hand, but the ants quickly surround him, lifting him away from the scene and toward a cliff’s edge. The battle is playful yet firm as Donald tries to intercept the intruders, only to witness the ants carrying more of his hard-won foods back to their hidden hole. The colony corners him, and he braces himself with a defiant, “Oh, yeah?” as the standoff escalates.

The ants engage with surprising agility, treating the confrontation like a football match and T-with-fury proscribing Donald’s attempts to reclaim his stash. In a rapid sequence, they even pull off his shirt, leaving him to improvise a barrel to maintain modesty. He retaliates with a dramatic move, setting up a blast with dynamite to destroy the anthill, but the explosion sends a portion of the cliff tumbling, forcing Donald to plunge into the water once more, his shouts echoing in the canyon.

Around a large cupcake, the colony gathers once more, its members circling the prize and celebrating their perseverance. The little ant who had first intercepted Donald’s teasing dashes to the top of the cupcake and seizes the cherry, a small, triumphant victory marking the ants’ clever defense of their newfound provisions.
