In Pondicherry, three hotel-management students—Deepu, Alex Chandy (often known as Kunjunju), and Ashtamoorthy—share the top floor of a house owned by Sophy. Sophy lives there with her two daughters, Kamala and Padma, and what begins as a simple living arrangement quickly turns into a tense,,blooming crush situation: all three young men fall for Kamala, each with their own approach to winning her affection.

[Kunjunju] tries to seduce Kamala, but she threatens him with a knife, a moment that reveals her sharp will and nerves of steel. Meanwhile, Deepu is cripplingly shy, unable to voice his feelings, and Ashtamoorthy treats romance as a joke, even joking his way through the day. To complicate matters and keep Ashtamoorthy at bay, the trio ups the stakes by naming Ashtamoorthy Kamala’s Rakhi brother, a protective gesture that only fuels the lingering, unspoken desires among them.

Their fragile equilibrium is shattered when Chandramathi, the neighborhood’s stern owner, appears and orders Sophy to leave the house because rent isn’t paid. Sophy’s heart tightens and she collapses soon after, slipping into the hospital where she passes away. Chandramathi grants them one week to pack up and leave, a cruel deadline that Abby?—Abbas rebukes Chandramathi for her cold treatment of Sophy’s daughters. The stakes in their tiny world rise as the rent crisis looms and a sense of impending loss thickens the air.

To clear their heads and regain a sense of normalcy, the boys, Kamala, and Padma decide to take a trip to refresh themselves. Philippose arrives from Chennai to reclaim belongings and visit family, but the boys eject him for intruding on Padma and Kamala’s space. Kunjunju’s longing returns with renewed force, and Kamala’s discomfort grows as she feels increasingly unsafe around him. Before long, Kamala asks Deepu and Moorthy to keep watch over Kunjunju’s visits.

One day, after Deepu and Moorthy leave for work, Kunjunju visits Kamala to press his love forward. He tells Deepu he hasn’t left his bed, but Kamala tells Deepu that Kunjunju’s advances are troubling her. Deepu and Moorthy confront Kunjunju at Kamala’s house, and Deepu’s anger bursts into a fierce beating of Kunjunju. Kamala asks all three to leave, to restore peace to the house and protect Kamala’s safety.

Deepu seeks refuge at Abbas’s house, while Moorthy and Kunjunju head to a hotel. Moorthy, torn between friendship and love, decides to bring Kunjunju back to make peace with Kamala and Deepu. That night, Deepu opens up about his feelings for Kamala to Kunjunju. In a selfless act, Kunjunju decides to sacrifice his own love to help Deepu win Kamala, urging Deepu to confess to her. While Deepu races through a jog and catches Kamala’s glance, she hands him a flower and says there’s no problem between them. Deepu soon realizes that the flower was meant for Padma, not Kamala—Kamala has a headache, and Padma came in disguise to test Kamala’s reaction. Realizing the truth, Deepu passes the flower on to a little girl, and Padma returns home with her own harsh, testing words for her sister’s love life.

That evening, Padma calls [Kunjunju] to tell him Kamala wants to see him. When they meet, Kamala declares that she loves Kunjunju. He feels a surge of happiness, but the knot of his conscience tightens; he cannot betray Deepu, so he tells Kamala that his love was a pretense. Kamala leaves in tears, and Kunjunju confesses to Moorthy that he did it for Deepu, yet the pain lingers and he resolves to forget Kamala.

Before departure, the three boys, Kamala, and Padma embark on a final trip together. Padma hopes to end their tale on a note of happiness rather than sorrow, so they sing and dance to lift spirits. Yet tragedy strikes again when Padma slips and falls from a rock, dying on the way back, leaving Kamala devastated and alone.

With a heavy heart, the men prepare to leave Pondicherry, and Kunjunju makes one last attempt to unite Deepu and Kamala. Kamala, unable to leave her home completely, gives her last flowers to Deepu, and the trio turns back toward Kamala. In a shocking twist of timing, they discover Philippose has taken Kamala to Chennai. The chase to Chennai erupts into a confrontation with Philippose, and Kamala is eventually brought to the city. Philippose, who has grown to care for Kamala like his own daughter, is overwhelmed by the men’s insistence, and ultimately Kamala admits her love for Kunjunju. Yet the family’s stubborn love and loyalty lead them back home to Kerala, where Deepu’s life continues in the quiet rhythm of affection and longing.

Upon their return, Deepu visits the familiar house with the old routine of placing flowers on the windowsill. The new chapter that follows unfolds with a hopeful tone: a new love blooms as a balcony figure steps forward in greeting. Laila appears on the balcony, signaling that Deepu’s journey into love is far from over and inviting the audience to imagine what comes next in his story.
