Discovery of the jeweled sword and Hopps' sacrifice

Orin uncovers a jeweled sword embedded in the rocks of the Trinia mines. Hopps sacrifices himself to save Orin and keeps the sword's existence secret. The blade projects the image of an old man promising a magnificent universe, then vanishes, leaving only the hilt buried in the cavern floor.

Orin and Elan vow to seek the universe

Orin and Elan decide to pursue the blade and what the universe might hold. They are chased by Zygon's robots as they move toward the surface. The pursuit ends with them entering an above-ground industrial complex where danger escalates.

Elan is killed and Orin escapes to the surface

In the industrial complex, Zygon kills Elan, and Orin fights for his life to escape. He digs a tunnel toward the surface, emerging into a harsher world above the caverns. The escape marks the transition from underground peril to above-ground threat.

Starfly bonds with Orin and Man-Droid captivity

A Starfly forms a bond with Orin as he reaches the surface. Soon after, he is captured by Man-Droids—creatures that blend organic and robotic parts and intend to harvest him. The hilt's power begins to reveal itself as the situation tightens.

The invisible blade saves Orin from the Man-Droids

The hilt unleashes its hidden power as the sword projects an invisible blade, killing two Man-Droids and enabling Orin to break free. The escape marks a turning point where Orin discovers the weapon's true potential. The Starfly's presence continues to guide him.

Dagg Dibrimi enters and Silica is captured

Orin encounters the human smuggler Dagg Dibrimi, who refuses to acknowledge the existence of slaves. Dagg steals crystals from a hovering freighter and uses Silica as a shield to escape Zygon's robots. Silica is reprogrammed by Dagg and becomes attached to him.

Orin wanders Bordogon in search of Novaluna

Dagg flies toward Bordogon, abandoning Orin and handing Silica to a slave auctioneer. Orin wanders the planet looking for the blade, guided by a fortune-teller who mentions a place called Novaluna. Orin attempts to bid on Silica, but a currency misunderstanding complicates matters and the auctioneer takes Silica along with Orin's freedom; Dagg later intervenes to free them.

The crystal market and a treacherous bomb

Dagg and Orin visit two merchants to sell their crystals. A price is placed on Orin by Zygon, drawing merchants who would buy him. Dagg refuses, but the merchants plant a bomb in Dagg's payment; Starfly warns Orin, and Dagg casts the bomb into the enemy camp, averting disaster.

Zygon's attack; rescue and the hilt’s history revealed

Dagg agrees to take Orin toward Novaluna, but Zygon's robots shoot them down. Dagg is captured and Orin is discarded from the ship, only to be rescued by Aviana, Bordogon's governor's daughter. Aviana's computer reveals the hilt's long history with the guardians known as the Kha-Khan and Nexus, and she guides Orin toward Trinia for the confrontation.

The confrontation and the Nexus reveal

In Trinia, Aviana explains that the hilt belongs to legendary guardians used against threats like Nexus. Zygon appears and is revealed to be Nexus, intent on regaining control. The hilt is seized by Zygon, and Orin and Dagg are imprisoned in a cell block aboard Zygon's flagship.

Starflies empower Orin and the flagship assault

Starflies arrive with the hilt and help Orin break free, enabling him and Dagg to seize control of Zygon's flagship. They use the Starflies’ aid to destroy the enemy fleet, and Silica rejoins them after the battle. The victory marks a decisive turn in the struggle against Zygon.

Final assault and Zygon's downfall

Orin's party breaches Zygon's base. Dagg and Silica stay behind to fend off pursuers while Orin confronts Zygon in his cavernous lair. Three Starflies merge and declare that there never was a blade; power lies in Orin himself. Orin channels this inner power and kills Zygon, sparking a human revolt.

Mine threat and healing the family

Above the mines, Silica triggers a crystalline explosion that could collapse the mines. Orin helps his people flee to the surface of Trinia and uses his new power to heal his brother Calli's blindness, signaling a hopeful future for his family and community.
