The rogue pilot briefly hides beneath an Airbus A340 and then tries to fire a missile at Vallois, forcing Marchelli to destroy the Mirage to prevent a catastrophe.

Back home, the French “Special Missions” department tampers with the gun-camera footage to blackmail Marchelli into joining their covert operations. A court-martial convicts him of destroying the stolen Mirage without provocation, and he is discharged from the air force; Vallois resigns in solidarity.

Special Missions promises reinstatement if Marchelli and Vallois undertake a high-stakes mission—a Cannonball Run-style flight over hostile territory to the Horn of Africa to help sell the Mirage to an Asian customer. The pilots accept, but the mission goes awry when they are forced to land in a dangerous area and are captured by terrorists intent on seizing their aircraft. They manage to escape in one jet, while the terrorists dismantle and flee with the other.
