In the sun‑bleached towns along Mexico’s Pacific coast, a quiet refuge hides beneath the rhythm of waves and the muted hum of distant traffic. Here, Nero has tried to leave behind the roar of battle, building a simple life with his young son Taylor after a painful loss. Their days are a fragile blend of ordinary routines—a fishing trip here, a sunset walk there—filled with the quiet hope that the past might finally stay buried.
That fragile peace shatters when Taylor is suddenly taken, thrusting the pair into a relentless struggle that forces Nero to confront the very skills he thought he had set aside. An unseen antagonist, known only as Mzamo, offers a harrowing bargain: the boy’s safety hinges on a series of ruthless tasks that draw Nero back into the world of covert violence he once escaped. The stakes are stark, and the clock ticks with every breath Taylor cannot take.
The film’s tone is a gritty, pulse‑pounding fusion of gritty realism and relentless action, set against the stark beauty of the Baja coastline. Nero moves through a shadowy underworld where loyalty is fleeting and danger lurks behind every neon sign, his elite training resurfacing with each confrontation. The cinematography balances the harsh glare of gunfire with the muted colors of the desert, underscoring a narrative that feels both intimate and expansive.
At its core, the story follows a father’s desperate determination to reclaim his son amid a spiraling vortex of violence. Former special forces agent Nero has moved to a quiet, sun-soaked life by the sea in Rosarito Beach, Baja California, with his son Taylor after his wife’s death. The peace is shattered when Nero is struck by a dart and awakes to find his boy kidnapped. A mysterious caller streams live footage of Taylor trapped inside a truck hooked up to an exhaust pipe, and the kidnapper demands Nero eliminate assassins from dangerous crime syndicates to win back his son. The caller equips Nero with a vest, a body cam, weapons, and a bulletproof Chevrolet Suburban to carry out the mission.
With the body cam on, the man – later identified as Mzamo – works alongside his lover Alanza, fellow cartel members, and a handful of corrupt intelligence agents led by their leader Donovan to monitor Nero’s every move. For his first assignment, Nero infiltrates a restaurant controlled by Roja and the Garza Cartel and eliminates everyone there. After completing this task, Mzamo sets the second target: Eliazar Machado, a notorious figure tied to prostitution, racketeering, kidnapping, and bombing. Nero slips into a den run by Machado, fights off Machado’s men, and finally kills Machado himself. When Mzamo allows Nero to speak to his son, Nero confides that his alias “Nero” was a cover for his real identity as a former intelligence operative; his wife’s kidnapping and death followed a betrayal within the agency, and he had hunted down those responsible before being moved to Mexico for safety with Taylor. He vows to uncover the mastermind behind the plot once Taylor is rescued. Through this exchange, it’s revealed that Donovan betrayed Nero and relocated him and Taylor to Mexico, intending to use Nero’s skills to crush Mzamo’s rival faction.
Mzamo then assigns a third target: Omar Chavez – an arms dealer and a personal rival of Mzamo – who already knows of the prior operations against Roja, the Garza Cartel, and Machado. Nero infiltrates Chavez’s estate, wipes out several of Chavez’s men, but Chavez shoots Nero and destroys the body cam. Believed dead by many, Nero is interrogated by Chavez, who flaunts live CCTV footage of Taylor and reveals Taylor’s location. As Chavez readies to kill Nero, Mzamo’s men surge in and a fierce gunfight erupts between Chavez’s defenders and their own. Nero pulls ahead, killing Chavez and speeding toward Mzamo’s estate.
Back at the estate, Donovan tries to pressure Mzamo into handing over a truck key to kill Taylor by releasing carbon monoxide into the van, but the boy has already escaped and is moved to a safe location. Nero arrives and confronts Donovan, killing him to avenge his wife. The remaining agents aligned with Donovan are taken down by Nero, while Mzamo and Alanza eliminate the others who betrayed them. Taylor is finally freed and reunites with Nero. The two menacing factions negotiate a fragile peace with Mzamo, but Nero remains wary that remnants of the cartel will pursue them. He swears that he will hunt down Mzamo if they ever cross paths again. The pair ride away together on Mzamo’s motorcycle, stepping into an uncertain but hopeful future.
