Sandakozhi Plot Summary

Balu, Vishal Krishna, an engineering student in Chennai, visits his classmate Karthik’s home in Chidambaram after the final exams. There he meets Meera Jasmine as Hema, Karthik’s sister, and the pair quickly fall in love, their feelings growing into a deep, shared connection.

Kasi, Lal, a local gangster in Chidambaram, is feared by the town. On his way back to his place, Balu witnesses Kasi chasing a man with an aruval. When Kasi is about to kill the man, Balu intervenes and stops Kasi, who erupts in rage and lashes out. Balu counters and shatters Kasi in front of everyone, then walks away, leaving Kasi seething with a desire for revenge.

Kasi grows furious and hatches a plan for revenge. His goons trap Karthik and Hema’s father and learn about Balu’s native place. Kasi then discovers that Balu’s father is Durai, Rajkiran, a powerful chieftain of Theni, making any direct attack on Balu and his family far riskier. He travels to Theni to bide his time and wait for the right moment to strike.

Later, Balu meets Hema, Karthik, and their family at a temple; Hema’s father is initially angry with Balu for the trouble caused by hitting Kasi, but Balu speaks to him and both families approve the budding relationship.

One day, Kasi makes another move to kill Balu, but Durai is attacked instead. Durai understands that Balu is a target and decides to protect him. A localite in Theni who harbors hatred for Durai decides to help Kasi kill Durai. Kasi utilizes the opportunity to target Balu and Durai during a temple festival, but Balu steps in to save Durai. Durai then asks Balu to fight Kasi, and Balu thrashes Kasi, leaving him with a defiant challenge: return if you still have the guts to finish him.
