A flashback unfolds, tracing the origins of Jordan from Delhi. The story centers on a Jat boy named Janardan Jakhar, known to friends as JJ, who studies at Hindu College and dreams of stardom in rock music. He is often laughed at by his peers, and a meeting with Khatana, the canteen owner, hints that heartbreak is a sparks-and-tire formula for artistic transformation. As JJ grapples with this idea, he spots Heer Kaul, a striking student from St. Stephen’s College, during a dance contest and learns that she is considered the “perfect heartbreaking machine.” He proposes—humiliatingly at first—to win her affection, believing that pain could fuel his ascent. Their early bond is marked by shared adventures and risky escapades, bridging two ambitious lives.

Heer Kaul, Nargis Fakhri, eventually marries a man named Jai in Kashmir, and the couple relocates to Prague. During this period Heer and JJ rekindle a complicated pull toward one another, and she even coins the nickname Jordan, a version of his stage persona. Meanwhile, JJ faces a fracture within his family when he is expelled by his brothers over alleged theft. He seeks refuge at the Nizamuddin Dargah, singing qawwalis, before moving into Khatana’s home. The divine hush of the Dargah attracts Ustad Jameel Khan, a renowned classical musician, who urges Dhingra, the head of Platinum Records, to sign the young singer. A journalist, Sheena, interviews JJ and drops hints that Dhingra plans to send artists to Prague for a Europe tour, prompting JJ to volunteer for the trip to reconnect with Heer.

Heer’s health starts to deteriorate, casting a shadow over their renewed connection in Prague. The reunion is intense but complicated by Heer’s marriage. As the affair intensifies, Heer experiences guilt and their relationship becomes intimate, yet Heer ultimately resolves to remain with her husband. After the Prague tour ends, Heer leaves JJ again. JJ attempts a final visit before returning to India, but is arrested on trespassing charges filed by Heer’s husband. The moment he is escorted away, he witnesses Heer collapse. Deportation to India follows, and the ensuing media circus and police attention land JJ in jail. The public spotlight convinces Dhingra to release JJ’s recordings, and the resulting album catapults him into international renown.

Back in the professional arena, JJ parts ways with Dhingra and hits the road on a nationwide tour, fully embracing the Jordan persona. The fame comes with bitterness, isolation, and a sense of loneliness that shadows his extraordinary success. A pivotal encounter occurs when Jordan meets Mandy, Heer’s younger sister, during a concert. Mandy, Sanjana Sanghi, asks him to help Heer, who is suffering from bone marrow aplasia. Jordan’s presence begins to lift Heer’s spirits and improve her blood counts, prompting him to loosen his commitment to the tour for her sake. Yet Khatana, now his manager, pushes for Jordan to attend his concerts; Heer persuades him, and the tour resumes—kicking off with a performance in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.

Heer’s health takes another downturn upon the return, slipping into a coma while revealing she is pregnant with Jordan’s child. Mandy breaks the news, and Jordan leaves a show to be by her hospital bed. He tries to wake Heer, but she remains unresponsive, and the weight of loss settles over him. Heer dies offscreen, leaving Jordan in a state of grief that coexists with his meteoric ascent to global superstardom.

The narrative returns to the Verona concert, where a vision of Heer appears to Jordan with a quiet, smiling presence. The film closes on a poignant note drawn from a Rumi poem that frames the entire journey: beyond right and wrong, there is a field where the lovers meet. As the crowd roars, the symbol of Jordan’s triumph and personal tragedy lingers, a testament to the price of chasing a dream that demanded more than fame.
