A man named “Smith” who has lost his memory receives a telegram from his fiancée inviting him to Portofino after a year’s absence. When he arrives, he discovers that his real name is “Ted”—and that his fiancée knew nothing about the telegram. Clearly, someone else has arranged the meeting. He arrives with his fiancée, Sarah Senta Berger, and the air there feels thick with secrecy as the coastline and bright town life loom in the background, hinting at the danger that has followed him across the miles.

Soon after, a man named “George” [Bruno Corazzari] reveals to them that Ted is in possession of seven kilos of heroin worth a million dollars. Unless the drugs or the money are handed over within a week, both Ted and George will be killed. The threat lands cold and hard, splitting their quiet reunion into a high-stakes countdown that casts long shadows over every decision they make. The tension tightens as the trio weighs their options, and the promise of money or danger becomes a constant, pulsing presence.

After repeated threats, Ted and his fiancée Sarah decide to flee to Paris, hoping distance and a new start might buy them time. But during a farewell party with Ted’s friend, Dr. Reinhart [Tom Felleghy], Sarah breaks her leg in a car accident. Reinhart immobilizes her with a cast, binding her to the house and turning a vacation’s end into a trap. The cast becomes a grim symbol of confinement, while the city outside continues to hum with danger and uncertainty.

While Sarah is recuperating, George sends her a message demanding that Ted meet him with the drugs in an abandoned villa. The request is crisp and chilling, and the setting—a desolate villa—feels like a trap laid in the heart of a sunlit country to lure them into one final, irreversible move. Ted returns to the planned rendezvous, but the truth proves harder to grasp: George realizes Ted still remembers nothing, and the danger escalates as loyalty and memory blur into one frightening equation.
