Louis Pothen [Mammootty] is a popular part-time television film critic, an artist, and a divorce lawyer who also hosts a live channel called “Kathrika.” His wife, Vasuki Iyer [Nayanthara], is a dedicated Kathakali artist, and they raise their school-going daughter Chintha, living apart from their parents because their marriage crosses religious lines.

One day, when Louis and Chintha visit Louis’s mother, Vasuki heads up to the terrace to gather props for a Kathakali performance. There, irritable compliments from Aryan [Roshan Mathew] spark a heated moment, and Vasuki tries to leave, only to have the terrace door blocked by Sudeep. The two men overpower her, and Pachabhasmam [Sentrayan], the apartment’s ironer, refuses to open the door, betraying her. The assault leaves Vasuki in shock, and she retreats into a withdrawn, unsettled state. Her mood shifts, she becomes irritable, and her ability to manage household duties falters. She even contemplates suicide, but her resolve hardens: those who raped her deserve to die, not her.

After a Kathakali performance, Vasuki is approached by Jeena Bhai [Sheelu Abraham], the newly appointed police commissioner. Vasuki finds Jeena’s number on Louis’s phone, calls to recount the ordeal, and Jeena urges her to tell the full truth. Yet Vasuki strays from the central incident, redirecting the conversation to the street-level harassment by men who sell fish near the building—Sura and Shibu—whose lewd remarks toward housewives are used to illustrate a broader pattern. Both are eventually arrested, but Jeena presses for more. Vasuki explains the depth of her trauma, and Jeena offers support while also challenging her to consider the consequences of inaction.

Driven by a mix of fear, anger, and a desire for justice outside formal channels, Vasuki decides to take matters into her own hands. Jeena supports her plan, and the killing spree begins with Pachabhasmam. Vasuki cunningly employs a method—pepper in the ironer and tampering with his asthma inhaler—that makes Pachabhasmam’s death look like a tragic accident. Vasuki then takes a stand on the balcony, watching the outcome unfold as Aryan and others reel from the shock of what has happened.

To pursue the remaining culprits, Jeena introduces Vasuki to a concept known as Takotsubo—driving the perpetrators toward suicide as a form of final punishment. A parcel arrives containing a phone and a SIM, meant to be used to communicate with the others as Jeena. Vasuki taps into the incriminating material—including photographs of Kani Mohan [Rachana Narayanankutty], Kani’s sister, and leaked videos from a pen camera that Aryan and Shibu forgot when they fled the terrace. Vasuki uses these assets to manipulate the situation. She adopts the alias Jeena during calls to Sudeep, warning him and turning the leaked material into a public indictment. The videos go online, Kani becomes a focal point of the scandal, and Sudeep eventually takes his own life. Aryan, warned by Vasuki as Jeena, goes into hiding in an abandoned building, convinced that exposure is inevitable. When a final call confirms his fate, Vasuki tells him that “death is your only escape now,” and Aryan’s life ends in suicide.

As the narrative unfolds, the truth behind Vasuki’s decision is slowly revealed. Louis learns from Swami [S. N. Swamy], a neighbor who witnessed Vasuki’s rape from his window, what happened—but Swami was too far away to intervene. Louis then reveals a dark truth: using mobile software that can transform a male voice into a female voice, he mimicked Jeena’s voice to guide Vasuki toward taking justice into her own hands. He believes this is the only path to absolution for the couple, and he chooses to keep the deception hidden from Vasuki so that they can continue their marriage and maintain a fragile happiness.

In the end, the film leaves a stark moral question in the foreground: does the pursuit of vengeance justify the means, and can a marriage survive a truth that redefines the justice they sought? The complex web of trauma, manipulation, and moral ambiguity poses a challenge to viewers, inviting reflection on power, guilt, and the consequences of taking the law into one’s own hands.
