Danny Coogan is at the Bodega Bay Inn crafting chairs for a wedding reception while his Uncle Len runs the hotel. Toulon, a guest with a dangerous past, explains that Nazis killed his wife over a mysterious formula that can bring his puppets to life. He hopes to hide from his hunters in America, setting up a fragile refuge for Danny and the others.

Toulon's room is framed by a deadly confrontation

Danny heads toward Toulon's room and is confronted by a gunshot and two men in black slipping away; one briefly reveals his face. He enters Toulon's chamber to find Toulon dead with a pistol in his hand. Behind a wall panel, Danny discovers the puppets are real and animated, along with an unmoving Six Shooter and the puppet Ninja.

Family news and the draw of war

On the following day, Danny visits his mother Elma and his brother Don at home. Don is slated to ship off to war soon, heightening the family’s personal stakes. The shadow of Nazi pursuit and Toulon's past hints at a broader danger looming over them.

Klaus, Max, and Ozu set their mission in Chinatown

Two Nazi assassins, Klaus and Max, converge on the Opera House in Chinatown and cross paths with the Japanese saboteur Ozu. Ozu reveals a joint mission, under orders from The Emperor, to destroy an American bomb manufacturing plant by sending Max to infiltrate the plant and get close to Beth, Danny's girlfriend. The plan links the puppet world to a larger war front.

Puppets awakened; a warning goes unheard

The next day, Danny has brought the puppets to life and returns to the plant to show them to Beth, spotting Max there. He tries to warn Beth about the danger, but she does not believe him. Danny follows Max back to the Opera House and begins to unravel the broader attack plan.

The plan surfaces; home becomes a target

Max sees Danny and alerts Klaus, who then targets Danny's home. Klaus shoots Elma, abducts Beth, and shoots Don, turning a family visit into a nightmare. Danny's world shifts from discovery to personal loss as danger closes in.

At the Opera House, Tunneler and Leech Woman overpower Ozu's men, allowing Ninja and Pinhead to counter Klaus. The puppets' powers turn the tide of the fight as Beth's safety hangs in the balance. Danny's arrival with Blade seals another crucial moment.

Danny saves Beth from harm, but Ozu wounds Ninja in the skirmish. A tense standoff forms around a live bomb as Danny and Blade threaten Ozu to force her retreat. Max, connected to the saboteur's plan, waits for an opportunity to seize control of the device.

Ozu escapes with Tunneler, Jester, and Leech Woman in a bag, leaving behind Blade, Pinhead, and the mortally wounded Ninja. Beth remains safe for the moment as Danny vows vigilance against further surprises.
